I'm guessing the ever universe bending show is going to reverse roles entirely here with Superman and Supergirl. I think Loeb was on to something pitting Kara's father against Kal'el's. It was a nice stroke to revitalize decades old traditional origin stories but I've got a hunch that because Supergirl is truly a motivating force for Smallville that the show is going to let her take the lead in a few ways. Well this is some terribly exciting news indeed! Not only can she play a beautiful fearless yet unstable human weapon in the Joss Whedon's fan favorite film Serenity (and tv series Firefly) ... she can play a vicious super human powered terminator in the Sarah Connor Chronicles and now ... she plays the voice of Supergirl in the upcoming Animated Film Batman/Superman: Apocalypse.

Apocalypse (Original TVguide story here) is a Warner Brothers animated film of the story written by Jeff Loeb (producer of Heroes) and drawn by the late Michael Turner re-introducing Supergirl as Kara Zor'el from Krypton.
